December isn’t just for rocking around the Christmas tree this year it’s time to #rocktheribbon and show your support for those living with HIV/AIDs and be an ally.

What is World AIDS Day?

 

 

 

World AIDS Day takes place on 1 December each year. It’s an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness.

 

Why is World AIDS Day Important?

Whilst advancements in treatment of HIV have been made and with proper treatment those living with HIV can have healthy and fulfilling lives this is only known by 16% of people and over half of the public have not seen any campaigns in the past six months!!! Awareness is still needed to break down the myths and stop the stigma for those living with HIV/AIDS.

This day serves as a reminder to both the public and government that more is still needed to be done in the way of education money and awareness.
