What is LGBT History Month?
LGBT History Month is an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movement.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans History Month has been celebrated across the UK since February 2005. Each year the event has become bigger and better, and with your help this year will be the best yet.
Throughout the month of February, LGBT people will have the opportunity not only to proudly showcase our diverse and dynamic LGBT communities, but also to shed light on our once hidden history.
There is another side to many of the well known stories in history which deserves to be heard. So often LGBT people in the past have been rendered invisible – literally written out of history.
LGBT History Month is our opportunity to change that.
