Genital Herpes

There are two types of herpes caused by the same virus. Both types can affect the genitals (Genital Herpes) and the mouth and nose (Cold Sores).

The virus is passed on during sexual contact, (commonly passed on during oral sex), or through skin to skin contact.

Symptoms of an initial outbreak might include:

  • Flu like symptoms
  • Aches in lower back and legs
  • Tingling or itching in genital areas
  • Soreness and swelling in the affected area
  • Finally, blisters which burst and develop into painful sores
