Puberty

Puberty is a time of change – it is a journey into adulthood.

Puberty can be exciting, embarrassing, confusing and sometimes a little scary.

Hormones are responsible for the physical and emotional changes during puberty.

Boys and girls all over the world go through puberty – regardless of race or culture. However puberty is different for everybody. It does not happen overnight, most changes are gradual.

Remember, you are unique and so is your body, and it will develop at it’s own pace. Puberty is not a race.

For some people puberty may start at around the age of 8 or 9, others not until age 12 or 13. Puberty may continue until someone is about 20 years of age.
