What is masturbation?

Masturbation is when you get pleasure from touching yourself. There are lots of myths around masturbation but it can be a safe and enjoyable way to feel good. Masturbation is normal, although not everybody may want to do it.

You should not feel embarrassed or ashamed. It is a very safe, natural way to explore your own body and may help in being able to let your partner know what you like and don’t like.

Masturbation is a perfectly normal and healthy way to explore your own body and find out what you like and don’t like.

Just remember, it’s your body and your choice.

Is masturbation safe?

Yes. For the record, masturbating doesn’t cause blindness and won’t make hair grow on your palms. Joking aside, there’s no risk of pregnancy or catching STI’s from masturbating, although there is a risk of infection if you touch someone else’s genitals and then touch your own. This is because STIs can be passed on through infected semen or vaginal fluid.

Mutual masturbation is where two people may masturbate themselves together and/or masturbate each other. You may need to use a condom so no bodily fluids are exchanged.

Can i run out of sperm through masturbating too much?

Masturbating will not affect a man’s ability to produce sperm. Men will not run out of sperm, as they produce it continuously. After a man has ejaculated, it will take some time before he can ejaculate again. This is normal and doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with his sperm.
